Mell Meets… énergie Fitness

For our latest Mell Meets we sat down with énergie Fitness’ general manager, Neil Hateley (centre), sales manager, Aaron Rai (left) and fitness manager, Jamie House (right), to discuss all things gym and exercise.

For those who aren’t aware of énergie Fitness, could you please tell us about the gym?

Aaron: Here at énergie Fitness, we are proud to offer you the best value membership compared to any other gym in town. Our gym includes State of the Art Precor Cardio, resistance and free weight equipment, plus innovative training zones, featuring énergie’s exclusive ‘the YARD’ indoor group fitness classes which offers you over 30 classes a week.

As a team, we provide our members with a unique personal service to ensure the gym is a place you feel comfortable in, and that we are supporting you the whole way through your fitness journey.

We are also really accessible. For those who don’t know where we are, we are located on Warwick Road, just above Loaf and opposite House of Fraser, so there’s plenty of public car parks surrounding us. For those of you who’ll be using public transport, there’s a bus stop in direct proximity for the S3 route and many more, and we are just 10 minutes’ walk from Solihull Train Station.

Could you explain what ‘the YARD’ is?

Jamie: ‘the YARD’ is a functional playground designed for all types of workout. Here you’ll find four punch bags, a plyometric bench and four TRX’s. We also have specific yard-based classes, which are great to help you on your way to achieving your training goals.

Everyone has their own reasons for getting fit; whether it’s to look good for a special occasion or to simply improve their fitness levels, everyone has different goals. Do the PT’s all have different strengths and skills or how do you ensure that you help members meet their individual needs?

Jamie: Each PT is specialised in different aspects of training, whether it would be muscle building, fat loss, toning, body transformation and also for rehabilitation needs. If you want to learn more about how we can help you achieve your fitness goals, simply book a consultation so we can match your requirements with one of our trained PT’s. We can then also offer taster sessions before you commit to anything.

You might be there to get your blood pumping, your muscles flexing or just to try out a different workout, so what equipment will members find in the gym?

Neil: We have a wide range of equipment here at énergie Fitness Solihull, from treadmills and rowers, to spin bikes and cross trainers. Our free weights section is just as impressive; with eight cable sections, pin loaded and plate loaded machines, flat bench, incline bench, smith machine and an Olympic lifting platform. Plus we have a half squat rack and our dumbbells go all the way up to 50KG.

Do you offer classes? If so, could you go into detail about what options members have and how often they run?

Neil: We have over 30 classes, which include our very own yard-based classes. We have two types of memberships; ‘Classic’ which gives you access to the gym and the equipment itself, plus limited classes. If you opt for our ‘WOW’ membership you get all classes including spin, metafit, Zumba, Pilates and fighting fit, which incorporates MyZone to get everyone working to their limits.
