The White Company collaborate with Galvin Brothers The Brocklesby Ash Collection

The Brocklesby Ash Collection of furniture is handcrafted by Galvin Brothers exclusively for The White Company. The collection is made from sustainably sourced plain sawn English Ash and includes a side table, coffee table, console table and mini stool.

Using a carefully sourced sustainable supply of British timber was a starting point for this project. As with all Galvin Brothers furniture they wanted the environmental impact kept low and to minimise waste in the manufacturing process. It was important to Galvin Brothers that they knew where the timber had come from – knowing when and where the ash was felled allowed them to trace a complete line from tree to table.

For the first collection for The White Company, all of the timber was farmed and felled on the Brocklesby Estate, in Lincolnshire, a short distance from their timber merchant S.H Somerscales who have milled the logs, air dried the stock for two years, and on their request, kiln dried the quantity of each timber ready for Galvin Brothers to produce the range. The lineage and provenance of each piece of furniture is confirmed and will be given a stamp to prove it.

The design collaboration with Galvin Brothers responds directly to the English Ash from which it is made. Together we wanted to create a collection that is very simple – an essential evocation of the inherent qualities of the timber – pared back and honest, in keeping with The White Company tradition.

Each piece of furniture in the Brocklesby collection is co-branded and has a unique numbered disc showing where and when the timber was felled; proof of provenance in the end story for the consumer.
