Not everyone will receive a gift this Christmas, but you have the power to change that. In partnership with youth homelessness charity St Basils, Mell Square will be giving you the opportunity to donate and regift presents as part of our Gift Donation Station.

You’ll find our Gift Donation Station at 50 Drury Lane (next to GANT) on Saturday 14th December from 10am – 4pm, where you can donate thoughtful gifts to beneficiaries of St Basils.

St Basils works with over 4,000 young people aged 16 to 25 annually who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The charity aims to help them find and keep a home, grow their confidence and give them the opportunities and skills needed to make the transition to independent living.

You can help a young person move into new accommodation by donating a ‘starter pack’, which consists of essential items needed to help them stand on their own feet. Most of us would take these items for granted, however for a vulnerable young person, they are just what they need to make their new space feel like a home.

There are three different standards of starter pack. Bronze starts with items like crockery, kitchen utensils, a bath towel and blanket. Silver builds on this with the addition of bedding (must be new), basic toiletries, cleaning supplies, long-life packets and tins of food. A Gold standard starter pack offers all of the above, as well as pots and pans, tea bags, biscuits, bin liners and a bag for life.*

Mell Square’s Gift Donation Station will be returning after Christmas on Saturday 11th January, the perfect opportunity to regift your unwanted presents and donate starter packs.

We’re proud to partner with such a worthwhile charity and hope that shoppers’ donations can help make a difference to the young people St Basils supports.

Keep up-to-date with the latest news and offers by searching ‘Mell Square’ on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

* Please try and provide a full and complete starter pack in a box and write on what standard it is.
