COOK UP A STORM FOR NATIONAL PIZZA DAY

One of the best food-related days of the year is approaching. Obviously not Christmas and no, not Easter, but National Pizza Day! Whether you want to get your chef’s hat on and cook from scratch or discover restaurant quality pizza ready to go in the oven, Mell Square had everything you need. Save the date – Sunday 9th February.

DOUGH IT YOURSELF

Making your own pizza doesn’t have to be time consuming. Check out this quick pizza dough recipe from Sainsbury’s, which takes a total of just 25 minutes. The recipe is full of handy cooking tips too – for example, did you know that you don’t need any special equipment like pizza stones to cook pizza? Just use two large, flat baking trays or an upturned rimmed baking tray.

Sainsbury’s in Poplar Way has all your ingredients taken care of. If you’re looking to make a truly authentic Italian pizza, we recommend adding Parma ham, mozzarella, basil leaves and mixed herbs. But don’t add too many more toppings or you’ll end up with a soggy pizza!

The store caters for all and has a wide range of ingredients suitable for those who are gluten, dairy or lactose free.

PARTY STARTERS

Why not celebrate National Pizza Day with a party? Get your friends and family round and sample a range of loaded pizzas from M&S. We think you’ll love the store’s American-style ‘Whole Hog’ and ‘Chicken Out’ pizzas, which are cooked on a light and crispy Detroit-style base and smothered in house sauce. Alternatively, enjoy a taste of Italy with the Wood Fired Mozzarella Di Bufula & Salami Diavola pizzas.

SMALL-SIZED SOURDOUGH

Of course, not everyone wants a huge pizza and M&S has thought of that too. Inspired by the growing restaurant trend for healthier pizza options, its new smaller wood fired pizzas are packed with flavour but controlled in terms of size and calories. Hand-stretched for a light and irresistibly crisp base, there are a variety of delicious flavour combinations too. You can try everything from Prosciutto Crudo and Fig to Pollo Primavera, the store’s first ‘non tomato’ based pizza with a beautifully fresh pea and mint sauce.

TRY SOMETHING NEW

M&S hasn’t forgotten anyone who’s vegan or simply keen to embark on a more plant-based diet. As part of its new Plant Kitchen range, you can try a BBQ Pulled Jackfruit Pizza topped with vegan house sauce, red and yellow peppers and red onions.

Get your National Pizza Day shopping list ready and tick everything off at Mell Square. All that’s left is to grab a bottle of wine and you’ve got the perfect night in!
